Earthquake Risk Calculation
|
The package on earthquake risk calculations estimates the number of earthquakes of different magnitude in a year, and based on these estimates and a pre-selected empirical relationship to translate the magnitude and location parameters of earthquakes in to the maximum values of peak ground acceleration (PGA) at a site, the probabilities and return periods of peak ground acceleration (PGA) are estimated. The user has the option to select one of the 16 empirical relationships. A felt area table is generated for different levels of PGA and earthquake magnitude. |

An up-to-date catalog of magnitude and hypocentral data on earthquakes within and around India is incorporated in this application. A user can select earthquakes to meet various data needs. |

Seismicity Calculations

Seismicity calculations based on magnitude frequency relations ships, hypo central data on earthquakes within and around India and empirical relationships to estimate the values of peak ground acceleration are made in this application. |

Given the latitude and longitude of a location the application informs the user in which Topo Sheet (1:250,000 and 1:50,000 maps of Survey of India) the location lies. |
